［アムステルダム ２４日 ロイター］ アムステルダムのスキポール空港に２４日、出迎えの際に使う「バナー」を簡単に作れる自動販売機が登場した。世界初という。自分の好きなメッセージと書体、背景デザインを選び、布の長さによって４─１５ユーロ（約４００─１５００円）を支払うと、数分で出来上がる仕組み。
この「バナーエクスプレス」の創設者の１人、ティボー・ブルーナさんは、ロイターの取材に「空港に来ると、シーツで手作りしたバナーを手に家族や友人を出迎えている人たちがいて、そこからアイデアを得た。シーツでわざわざ作らなくても、空港でバナーができれば手間が省けるのではと考えた」と説明した。
機械の製作には３年を要した。バナーには耐水性があり、１号機が好評なら、他の空港だけでなくスポーツや音楽イベント用にスタジアムにも設置したいと話している。
Picking up people from the airport just got a bit more interesting with Amsterdam Schiphol’s new automatic banner dispenser.
Located in the gateway’s Arrivals Hall 2, the dispenser allows people who are meeting passengers at the airport to design and print their own personalised banners.
Schiphol is the first airport in the world to offer this service, which has been developed by the Amsterdam-based company BannerXpress.
With the machine, people can create a personalised banner in minutes and in just five steps.
The first step is choosing the size: either small (40cm wide), medium (130cm wide) or large (almost 3m wide); the height is a standard 30cm.
Next customers choose the background and theme for the banner, and the last step is entering the text that will appear.
After paying with a debit or credit card, the banner is then printed out onto canvas.
Otto Ambagtsheer, director of Schiphol’s Business Area Consumers, said: “The banners by BannerXpress allow us to offer people who are coming to pick someone up with the chance to surprise them in a playful way.
“For now we only have this one dispenser in Arrival Hall 2, but we may add more at other locations if it proves popular.”
The price of a small banner is €3.95, a medium-sized banner is €9.95, and a large banner is €14.95.
